ABOUT TCP
The Condom Project (TCP) was established by a group of AIDS educators, activists and artists who are committed
to direct action. Below are some brief bios for our team, but you should visit our homepage,
www.thecondomproject.org, for more.
Executive Director - Franck DeRose
Franck DeRose, an entrepreneurial visionary, started The Condom Project two-and-a-half years ago, after an
explosive start at the 6th International Conference on Home and Community Care in Dakar, Senegal, in December 2003.
His work in the HIV community began at the Gay Men's Health Crisis Center and later at San Francisco's Glide
Church Community Out Reach Services. A Washington DC resident for the past decade, Franck has served as Co-Chair
of the Capital Area Vaccine Effort Community Advisory Board and most recently served as Director of Development
for the Title II Community AIDS National Network and Leader on the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team. He
now runs The Condom Project full-time.
Director of Global Operations - Joy Lynn Alegarbes
Joy Lynn Alegarbes is a community-based artist and sexual health advocate. In 2001, Joy Lynn founded the
Outreach Program at Condomania and has brought sexual health education to many organizations including
Columbia University, Penn State University, Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS, New York Society for the
Deaf, and the Ryan White National Youth Conference on HIV and AIDS. She has been seen educating viewers
about safer sex and sexual health on the Discovery Channel, Oxygen, and MTVU; she has also contributed
to articles on sexuality in Time Out New York, the New York Press, XL Magazine, and Vibe Magazine. She
has been with TCP since 2004, and worked on the ground in all ten countries where TCP operates.
Artistic Director - Tim Sevilla
Tim Sevilla is an artist, writer and nonprofit professional dedicated
to helping young nonprofits find their way in the world. Tim was trained
as a contemporary artist and mass media watchdog at New York University,
and after graduation, he worked for four years at the DUC Library Program
of Art Resources Transfer, most recently as Acting Director. He now serves
as the communications and development consultant for Campus Hanoi, an
international art residency program in Vietnam. Tim has taught art, ESL
and writing to immigrants, inner-city youth and a variety of other audiences;
he is also a Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Advocate-in-training at
St.Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center's Crime Victims Treatment Center.
He joined TCP in May 2006.
Director of Communications - David "DJ" Johnson
David Johnson is a dedicated non-profit professional in Washington, D.C.
With a flair for words and community building, DJ uses his skills to help
nonprofits find stronger and smarter ways to communicate their message to
the world. His persistent work ethic and creative problem solving brought
him Association Forum's Diversity Scholar Award in 2004, and he currently
serves on the Diversity Committee of the American Society of Association
Executives (ASAE). His passion for social justice and belief in TCP's mission
lead him to immediately join up after viewing clips from "30 Seconds:
A Visual Voice."
IT Consultant - Jan Miranda
Jan Miranda is a technologist and web designer who enjoys the challenge
of producing work that presents a clear message with an innovative approach.
After freelancing as an IT consultant for government agencies in Ottawa,
he changed gears and moved to Toronto. With a passion to combine photography,
design and technology, he completed the Creative Photography Program at
Humber College and the Digital Media Program at George Brown College before
founding his company, Navlar, in 2001. Jan draws from his extensive background
to help his clients realize the business opportunities the internet and
other emerging technologies have to offer. He joined TCP as both
web designer and photographer for AIDS 2006 Toronto.

with artistic merit. She completed her Graphic Design diploma at the Ontario
